Medical weight loss · women & men

The journey begins here.

Dr. William Summers is board certified in both gynecology and obesity medicine, with more than 35 years in practice. Our medically-supervised weight loss programs are affordable, safe, effective, and designed around your specific needs — with one-on-one nutritional and exercise counseling at every step.

The problem

It isn’t willpower. It’s your endocrine system.

Obesity in this country has gone from about 10% of adults after World War II to nearly 40% today, and it’s now associated with more than 200 other diseases. That isn’t a national failure of discipline — it’s biology.

When we become overweight, the hormone signals that regulate hunger, fullness and fat storage stop working the way they should. GLP-1. GIP. Glucagon. Several others. Once those signals are off, we gain weight unfairly — and the more weight we gain, the further off they go. It compounds.

Dr. Summers puts it simply: if your thyroid is low, nobody asks whether you tried harder. They treat the thyroid. These are the same kind of signals, and they can be targeted the same way.

That’s why most people arrive here frustrated. They’ve lost weight before. It came back, and then some. Understanding why is where treatment starts.

Our program

A program built around you

We provide weight loss and maintenance solutions determined by each patient’s unique medical needs, goals, and individual requirements. Your program may include one-on-one nutritional and exercise counseling, prescription appetite suppressant medications, Vitamin B6–B12–Lipotropic injections and/or tablets, and additional support based on your needs.

Our clinic offers a variety of treatment approaches that can be combined in unique ways to address the specific weight-management needs and challenges of each patient.

Our approaches

Tools that fit your plan

Combined in the way that’s right for you, under physician supervision.

FDA-approved medications for weight loss

Seven medications carry FDA approval for weight management. That includes the GLP-1 injectables; the newer GLP-1/GIP medications; oral options; and non-injectable medications such as Contrave, often used where emotional eating is the driver, and Qsymia. Dr. Summers will talk through which class fits your biology, your history and your budget.

Non-FDA-approved, commonly used

Several medications are widely used in weight management without carrying a specific FDA indication for it — metformin, topiramate and bupropion among them. These are standard, well-understood tools used by major clinics, and we’ll tell you plainly which category anything we prescribe falls into.

Adjuncts

Supportive add-ons such as B12 and B12/lipotropic injections. We’re straightforward about these: the evidence that they drive weight loss on their own is thin. Some patients find them helpful alongside the rest of the plan.

What we’ll actually ask you to change

Two things carry most of the weight, and neither is a starvation diet.

Carbohydrates. Not all are equal. Naturally occurring, complex carbohydrates enter the bloodstream under tight regulatory control. Highly refined, man-made sugars enter fast and push the body toward fat storage. For most patients we target under roughly 100 grams of total carbohydrate a day.

Protein. Your metabolic rate tracks your muscle mass — as Dr. Summers says, “if you want to burn more calories, add a little muscle.” When you lose fat without enough dietary protein, your body takes the amino acids it needs from muscle, your daily calorie requirement drops, and progress stalls. That’s why we recommend more protein than you’ll read elsewhere: over 120 g a day for women, over 160 g for men.

Whatever we do has to be something you can keep doing. Your body is built to reverse weight loss — understanding that is what makes a plan durable instead of another round trip.
